It's Friday. Whoosh. Now it's Monday. I've got everything under control. Whoosh. Now I don't. As I try to metaphorically keep my head above water, I have to laugh at myself and think, "I wish my open water swim time was a fraction as fast as my day to day life."
Does this sound familiar to you?
In an effort to slow down Father Time, while improving my overall triathlon time I've been thinking more about the power of meditation. This week, in addition to my training, I am going to take 5-10 minutes upon waking and 5-10 minutes before I fall asleep to get centered and try the following:
- Breath awareness. Close the eyes and recognize breath going in and out and try to regulate it so that it isn't shallow and the inhales and exhales match in duration.
- Body awareness. Lay in a position that is neutral and comfortable like savasana.
- Thought awareness. Without trying to control the influx of thoughts, allow ideas and concepts to come in and go out with the breath.
